Understanding how linked smart fields work

How do interconnected fields work?

Updated today

Tomorro provides smart fields to structure and track key information in your contract projects.

Some fields are created by default because they are essential to the proper functioning of your contract repository (e.g. start and end dates, renewal information).

Other fields are interconnected: their value or visibility depends on other fields.

Understanding automatically calculated fields

Linking the initial term and the initial end date

The link between the start date, the initial term, and the initial end date is automatic.

  • Once a start date is set, entering either the initial term or the initial end date automatically calculates the other value.

  • Updating the initial term or the initial end date automatically sets the Term type to Fixed.

Calculating the next renewal date

The next renewal date cannot be entered manually.

  • This field is calculated dynamically based on the initial end date and the renewal term.

  • If the project includes tacit renewal and has not yet reached its initial end date, the next renewal date corresponds to that initial end date.

  • After that, the date is automatically recalculated at each renewal deadline.

Understanding automatic field visibility

Admins only.

Each template allows you to define which fields are visible using visibility options.
Some fields include a specific option: “Show if…”, which enables conditional display.

Example: the contract end date is only displayed if the contract has a fixed term.

Accessing visibility settings

  • Open the Summary

  • Click the three dots to the right of the custom fields

  • Click Display

Configuring visibility options

Always

Field is always visible

Never

Field is always hidden

Display if..

Conditional display based on relevance

Understanding term-related fields

Field

Display conditions

Effect

Initial duration

Visible if "Duration Type" = "Fixed

Updating this field automatically sets the term type to Fixed

Initial end date

Visible if "Duration Type" = "Fixed"

Updating this field automatically sets the term type to Fixed

Understanding renewal-related fields

Field

Display conditions

Effect

Renewal type

Visible if "Duration Type" = "Fixed

Defines whether the renewal is tacit or not

Renewal duration

Visible if "Duration Type" = "Tacit"

Updating this field automatically sets the renewal type to Tacit

Next renewal date

Visible if "Duration Type" = "Tacit"

Understanding notice period fields

Field

Display conditions

Notice

Indicates whether a notice period is required

Notice duration

Visible if "Notice" = "With prior notice"

The “Show if…” option allows the notice period duration to be displayed only when relevant.
