Create an amendment

How to easily create an amendment from an existing contract?

Updated over a month ago

Creating an amendment allows you to modify or supplement an already signed contract without starting from scratch. Several options are available depending on your needs.

Updating amendment data in the summary sheet will not automatically update the data of the initial contract.

Access amendment creation

  • Open the relevant signed contract

  • Click on Create an amendment

This button is available only if the contract is an initial contract or does not yet have an amendment.

Create an amendment from a contract type

  • Select From a contract type

This option allows you to use an amendment contract type defined by your administrators.

Result:

  • Automatically pre-fills all native smart fields (start date, end date and notice period) and smart fields

  • Carries over information from the initial contract (dates, notice period, etc.)

  • Automatically fills in the counterparty's information

Create an amendment by duplicating the contract

  • Select Duplicate the contract

This option allows you to create an amendment based directly on the current contract.

Result:

  • Automatically pre-fills all native smart fields (start date, end date and notice period) and smart fields

  • Creates an amendment ready to be edited

Link an existing contract as an amendment

  • Select Link an existing contract

  • Choose a contract already in the repository.

Result:

  • Creates a link between the two contracts

  • Transforms the selected contract into an amendment

⚠️ Information update: The link connects the elements, but the fields and summary sheet will not update automatically.

Import an already signed amendment

Required format: The document must be in PDF format.

  • Click on New Contract

  • Select Store a signed document

  • Upload a file (PDF only).

If the document title contains the words Avenant or Amendment, the system will automatically detect it as an amendment and suggest linking it to an initial contract.

  • Open the summary sheet

  • Go to the Linked Contracts section

  • Click on + Add

  • Select the initial contract

Creating an amendment allows you to maintain a clear and structured history of your contractual changes, while keeping a link to the original contract.
