Remove or modify an approver in an approval workflow

In some situations, an approver may no longer be able to participate in an ongoing approval workflow.

Depending on the situation, several solutions are available.


Manage an approver's absence

If an approver is temporarily absent, you can reassign the approval to another manager or administrator.

This action can be performed by an administrator or a manager directly from the contract.

Manage the departure of an approver from the organization

If the approver is no longer part of the organization, the substitute automatically takes over their ongoing approvals.

The substitute configuration is handled by an administrator.

Modify approvers for future contracts

If you want to remove an approver from the workflow, you must modify the approval workflow in the contract type.

Only administrators can modify a contract type.

⚠️ This modification only applies to future contracts.

For already-launched approval workflows, you must:

  • reassign the approval in a contract, or

  • cancel the ongoing approval workflow.


Add an approver during the workflow

It is not possible to add an approver once the approval workflow has been launched.

To add an approver:

  • Cancel the approval workflow

  • Relaunch the workflow

  • Add the approver when relaunching.
