Define an editable or non-editable zone

How to control the editable zones of a project?

Updated this week

In Tomorro, you can define editable and non-editable zones in documents created from a template.

This allows you to control what your collaborators can modify or comment on.

Learn more about editing rights for contributors.

Define a non-editable zone

A non-editable zone prevents contributors from modifying or suggesting changes in a specific part of the document.

Before configuring this restriction, make sure editing is enabled: if editing rights are not granted, contributors will not be able to edit the document by default.

  • Unlock document editing via the Participant settings.

  • Select the part of the document to be made non-editable.

  • Click on the lock icon that appears in the toolbar.

  • Choose "Comments only".

Once this is done, the zone will be outlined in gray with the message "Contributors can only comment".

Consequences

  • Contributors can modify or suggest changes throughout the document, except in locked zones.

  • Non-editable zones can only be modified or commented on by administrators.

Define an editable zone

An editable zone allows contributors to modify or suggest changes in a specific part of the document.

Before configuring this option, ensure that document editing is locked. If editing is already unlocked, you cannot define an editable zone, as contributors can already edit the document by default.

  • Enable "Can comment" mode in the Participant settings.

  • Select the part of the document to be made editable.

  • Click on the lock icon in the toolbar.

  • Choose "Editing allowed".

The zone will then be outlined in gray with the message "Contributors can edit".

Consequences

  • Contributors can only modify the document in defined editable zones.

  • Other parts remain locked and can only be modified by administrators.
