Manage contract types

How can I publish, duplicate, unpublish, download, or delete a contract type?

Contract types allow you to standardize the creation, management, and follow-up of your contracts.

From the Contract types tab, you can access all your contrat types : published or in draft and manage their main actions.


Edit a contract type name

Option 1: from the displayed name

  • Open the contract type

  • Click on the name displayed at the top left

  • Edit the name

  • Confirm

Option 2: from the settings

  • Open a contract type in the Drafts section

  • Click on the at the top right

  • Click on Settings

  • Edit the Contract type name field

  • Confirm


Configure the description and category of a contract type

In the contract type settings, you can:

  • Add a description

    • It is displayed when creating a contract.

    • It helps contributors select the appropriate contract type.

  • Assign a category

    • It helps organize contract types.

    • It can be used in filtered views to easily find contract types.

⚠️ Contract type categories are native. It is not possible to create additional categories.


Publish a contract type

Publishing a contract type makes it available for creating new contracts.

  • Open a contract type located in the Drafts section.

  • Click Publish the contract type.

The contract type is then moved to the Published section and becomes available to users according to the configured access rights.


Unpublish a contract type

Unpublishing a contract type makes it temporarily unavailable, for example to update or modify it.

  • Open a contract type in the Published section.

  • Click the menu in the top right corner.

  • Select Unpublish contract type.

The contract type is moved back to Drafts and can no longer be used to create new contracts. Existing contracts are not affected.


Duplicate a contract type

If you want to create a copy of a template while keeping all its settings, use the duplication feature.

  • Open the contract type to duplicate (published or draft).

  • Click the menu in the top right corner.

  • Select Duplicate the contract type.

  • Confirm or edit the name of the new template.

  • Click Duplicate this contract type.

The duplicated contract type is saved as a draft.

Duplicated elements

  • the document and its custom fields;

  • conditional display rules, clauses, and editable areas;

  • approval workflows;

  • summary sheet configuration;

  • advanced settings (archiving, reminders, participants, etc.);

  • usage rights.

Once duplicated, the contract type can be modified according to your needs.


Download a contract type in .docx format

You can export a contract type in Word (.docx) format to share it or print it.

  • Open the contract type.

  • Select the desired language if multiple versions are available.

  • Click Download (.docx) from the language menu.

Word document rendering

  • Clauses: exported as standard text.

  • Conditions: all conditional text blocks are exported.

  • Custom fields: displayed as {field name}.

If downloading is not available, please contact support or your success manager to have it enabled. This feature is included at no additional cost.


Track the activity history related to a contract type

Changes to a contract type’s automations are now recorded in the activity log, ensuring full visibility into updates made throughout its lifecycle.

  • Open the contract type.

  • Click the ⋯ in the top right corner.

  • Select Show activities.


Delete a contract type

Deleting a contract type is permanent and irreversible.

  • Open the contract type.

  • Click the menu in the top right corner.

  • Select Delete the contract type.

  • Confirm by typing Delete.

Contracts already created from this contract type keep their data, but:

  • it will no longer be possible to create new contracts from this type;

  • approval workflows associated with existing contracts will be lost.
