Import a version (signed or unsigned) into an existing project

How to import an external version, a signed version, or a version received by email into Tomorro?

Updated yesterday

This article covers all the methods available to update an existing project, whether you receive a version negotiated outside the platform or a final signed document.

1️⃣ Import an external version (unsigned document)

Import a new version

  • Open the relevant project.

  • Click the Upload new version button.

⚠️ If a signature or approval workflow is ongoing, this button will not appear : you must cancel the process first to import a new version.

  • Select New version in the import window.

  • Add the revised file.

Accepted formats: .docx or .pdf.

  • Click Add to import the new version.

Once the external version is imported, you can:

If the imported file is a PDF, it will not be editable in Tomorro.

2️⃣ Import a version received by email

Each project has a dedicated email address.

When a document is sent to this address:

  • it automatically appears in the project’s Activities section

  • you can import it as a new version in one click

For optimal tracking:

  • Add the project’s email address in CC in your exchanges

  • Ask your counterparty to use Reply all

3️⃣ Import a signed version to finalize the project

Before importing a signed document, make sure the project is not already in Signed status.

Importing is only possible for projects still in negotiation or validation.

If your counterparty signed the final version outside Tomorro:

  • Open the relevant project.

  • Click on (button in the top right corner).

  • Select Upload the signed document from the dropdown menu.

  • Add the signatories: indicate all the people who signed the final version.

  • Upload the signed files from your computer.

The document must be in PDF format only.

  • Validate by clicking Upload the signed files.

Once the signed file is imported and validated, the project automatically switches to Signed status.

Track imports and the evolution of the document

Tomorro centralizes all updates in one place to give you clear and complete project visibility.

Activities: track actions and imports related to the project

In the Activities tab, you will find:

  • imported external versions

  • documents received by email

  • imported signed documents

  • the date, time, and source of each import

  • email exchanges synchronized with the project

This is your real-time activity feed for everything happening in the project.

Version history: maintain a complete record of the document

In the project menu, open Version history to view:

  • all created or imported versions

  • the chronological order of modifications

  • the author of each version

  • the source (Tomorro editor, external import, email, signed document)

  • the final signed version

This history ensures full traceability of the document throughout the negotiation.
