Manage contract versions

How to find, compare, or download different versions of a contract?

Display versions

All document versions, whether Word (.docx), PDF (.pdf), or created via the editor, are now opened in review mode via the Review button.

Each version has a dedicated toolbar in review mode, offering actions adapted to the document format:

  • For Word files: download in .docx or .pdf, edit in the editor, compare

  • For PDFs: direct display with download options

  • For editor-created versions: access to editing options

On the contract's main page, only the most recent version of the document is displayed.

Private versions and sent versions

Your counterparty only sees the versions you send them. As long as you do not share a version, it stays internal: there is no risk of them seeing your changes in progress.

  • If you edit a document whose version has already been shared, the "Version already sent" window appears: continuing automatically creates a Private version, visible only to you until you share it. In review mode, your changes are highlighted.

  • While your counterparty is reviewing the document, editing is locked until they send their version back. The Edit anyway button creates a private version on your side: be careful, it will not contain the changes your counterparty is currently making (diverging versions).

Approval or signature applies to the version that is active when the process is launched. If your counterparty sent you a version just before you imported yours, their changes are not included: compare the versions before launching the process.

Access version history

From both the main page and Review Mode, the context menu ("…") at the top right lets you open the version history.

All previous versions are displayed in a list, with each entry showing:

  • The author and creation date

  • The status of the version

  • Available actions (see below)

Clicking on a version automatically opens it in Review Mode.

The toolbar allows you to:

  • Restore an older version: a new version is created from it.

  • Open latest version.

Compare versions

Comparison is available for all editable versions (Word or editor).

From the version history, you can click "Compare" to view the differences between two versions.

Changes are highlighted, making it easy to identify additions, deletions, or replacements.

Download versions

Versions can be downloaded from several places:

  • From the main page (only the latest version)

  • From Review Mode (via the context menu '…' or the toolbar for Word and PDF versions)

  • From the version history

Depending on the document type, the following download formats are available:

  • Word (.docx): for Word documents or those created in the editor

  • PDF (.pdf): for all types, including Word and Editor

This allows you to:

  • Keep a local archive of contract milestones

  • Share a specific version

  • Keep or print a copy of a version

Restore versions

When a contract is modified, Tomorro automatically saves different versions.
You can restore a previous version at any time from the review mode if a change has overwritten the main document.

Common use case

For example, if an attached file accidentally replaced the main contract document, you can simply restore the previous version to retrieve the correct document.

To do this:

  • Open your contract

  • Enter review mode

  • Click Version history

  • Select the version you want

  • In the toolbar, click Restore

  • In the "Older version" window, click "Create new version"

A new version is created from the selected version, and the current version is deprecated.

Restoring a version does not delete other versions.
They remain accessible in the version history if you need to revert again later.

Archive a version

Open the version history as described above: the actions menu of a version (the three dots) offers Archive this version.

This action is final. The archived version leaves the version history and can no longer be viewed in Tomorro. No screen lets you find it again or undo the archiving: if you think you may need it later, download it before archiving it.

The action does not appear in three cases: on the version shared with your counterparty, on a locked document, and when only one version is left.

The contract’s Activities tab keeps the entry “has archived a version”. It is only a trace of the action: the version is not stored there and cannot be recovered from it.
